DESCRIPTION:
Antigua is a small city surrounded by volcanoes in southern Guatemala. It is famous for its Spanish colonial buildings, many of them restored after the 1773 earthquake that ended Antigua's 200-year rule as the colonial capital of Guatemala. Some notable examples of architecture include La Merced, a low yellow and white baroque church. It is an integral part of the famous Easter in the city, with parades and rituals.
